Otherwise, you need to use them in conjunction with a logistics ship, which is (seriously) how the pairing was intended.
CS/Log ship combo can tank/deal some serious pain. Unfortunately, CCP has effectively nerfed everything - a problem over the course of 4+ years of playing. While in some cases it's appropriate, you cannot *balance everything* constantly.
What has happened to CS's is the same as just about every speciality ships (HACs, Recons) and weapons (Drones, NOS) - the "net/net" of which is that everyone sucks vs everyone 1:1, and there are no longer many class-mismatches - in other words, a CS isn't going to take down a BS 1:1 (with any regularity).
What does this mean to you?
While certainly impressive on paper, CS's lack firepower and survivability vs. anything in the multi-ship opponent (e.g. 3:1 the CS is probably in big trouble) AND in next-class combat (vs. BS).
So their role is pretty ineefective accross the board, except in small=gang roaming squads and large fleet ops. Ratting - OK.
As one of the poster pointed out, there's a LOT cheaper alternatives - given the insurance dynamics you can insure about 20% of the market price, whereas a BS you can insure for full value. Makes the prospect of losing a few CS's pretty unappealing. Plus, like Dictors, CS's are high-value novelty kills (and good for ++ points on most KB's) which means you're going to get primaried - a lot.
Most effevctive CS now is probably Min due to the drone nerf on EOS. Your objective should be max DPS, you want to put your target down quickly.
Unfortunately, CS's potential is in crushing cruisers like tin cans and fleet/gang support. Unless you're doing a lot of that with that specific objective, you're going to be disappointed.
Plus, EWAR is now the universal i-win button (which will eventually get nerfed, like everything). You run into a EWAR frig gang, and it won't really make a difference (you'll die) - better to collect 100% on your insurance and get back to playing than to try to rationalize a 150m loss.
My .02c.
for tank+gank = faction fitted Sleipnir - could kill any t1 bs 1vs1 except machariel prolly lol.
for bonuses - nano-claymore + gang mods = insane bonuses, very high survivability + 440 dps tank... 330 dps in case **** happens.
I'm sorry, did I say u could speak ? |
